Building a website can be a daunting task. You want to make sure you make the best decision for your business.
Should you do it yourself, or hire someone else?
In today’s newsletter, you will learn what you need to consider when building a website and how it compares to hiring someone else.
Cost - The largest determining factor is how much you want to spend. If you have the money to invest in a website, I recommend it. Paying for a proper website will pay for itself in no time!
Business Age - How long have you been in business? If your business is brand new, it may be wise to build a simple 1-page website so you have something online.
Website Pages - How many pages do you want on your website? If you are planning to build it yourself take into account how much longer it will take to build a 5+ page website.
Web Design - You might be able to find a template you love, but if you aren’t familiar with web design this could still be difficult. Once you add in your content your website no longer looks like the template.
Under the Hood - There are a lot of website tips and tricks that are not common knowledge. These are items like:
If you decide to build a website yourself, make sure you spend time making sure it works “under the hood.”
Do it yourself: When you run into issues you don’t know where to go
Hiring someone: You have an expert who understands the industry and can answer any questions that arise
Do it yourself: You find designs you like online but have trouble implementing them
Hiring someone: You know what the Mona Lisa looks like, doesn’t mean you can replicate it
Do it yourself: Once you launch the website you think you are done
Hiring someone: An expert knows that launching the website is only the beginning
Don’t JUST build a website. Build a website that generates business for you. In the end, a website is a tool that helps your business grow.
Remember, you don’t know what you don’t know. Hire someone who does.
